Albanian Fergese Recipe

Fërgesë is a traditional Albanian dish, famous for its creamy texture and savory flavor. This recipe combines roasted red peppers, tomatoes, and onions with feta cheese and yogurt to create a deliciously rich and tangy dish. It's perfect as a hearty appetizer or a comforting main course.

Ingredients

  • 4 red bell peppers roasted and chopped
  • 2 tomatoes diced
  • 1 large onion chopped
  • 200 g feta cheese crumbled
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the onions and sauté until translucent.
  • Add the roasted red peppers and tomatoes to the pan. Cook for about 10 minutes until the vegetables are soft.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the yogurt and feta cheese together until well combined.
  • Add the yogurt and feta mixture to the pan with the vegetables. Stir well to combine.
  • Season with salt and pepper.
  • Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and bake in the preheated oven for about 25 minutes, or until the top is slightly golden.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
