Dolma Recipe

Get ready to make some delicious Albanian Dolma! This traditional dish is all about stuffing grape leaves with a tasty mix of rice, meat, and spices. It's a fun and flavorful meal that's perfect for sharing with family and friends.

Ingredients

  • 1 jar of grape leaves
  • 1 cup of rice uncooked
  • 1/2 pound ground beef or lamb
  • 1 large onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 cup fresh parsley chopped
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cups of water or broth

Instructions

  • Prepare the Grape Leaves: Rinse the grape leaves in cold water, trim the stems, blanch in boiling water for 30 seconds, then cool in cold water. Drain and pat dry.
  • Make the Filling: In a bowl, mix the uncooked rice, ground beef or lamb, onion, garlic, salt, pepper, paprika, and parsley.
  • Stuff the Leaves: Place a grape leaf flat on a surface. Put a spoonful of the filling near the bottom of the leaf. Fold in the sides and roll up tightly.
  • Cook the Dolmas: In a large pot, arrange the dolmas in layers. Drizzle with olive oil and add water or broth. Bring to a boil, then lower the heat, cover, and simmer for about 1 hour.
  • Serve and Enjoy: Once cooked, let them cool a bit, then serve. Enjoy your homemade dolmas!
