Gurabije Cookie Recipe

Gurabije are traditional Albanian cookies, known for their light texture and sweet, buttery flavor. Perfect for holidays or as a tasty snack, they are a delightful treat for anyone who loves homemade cookies.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Almonds or walnuts for topping optional

Instructions

  • Mix Ingredients: Cream butter and sugar, then add eggs and vanilla.
  • Combine Dry Ingredients: Mix flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Form Dough: Combine wet and dry ingredients to form dough. Chill for 1 hour.
  • Preheat Oven: 350°F (175°C).
  • Shape Cookies: Roll into balls, flatten slightly, place on baking sheet.
  • Add Toppings: Press a nut into each cookie, if desired.
  • Bake: 15-20 minutes until lightly golden.
