Kulac recipe

Kulac is a traditional Albanian bread known for its soft texture and delicious taste. It's perfect for any meal and can be enjoyed with a variety of toppings. This recipe is easy to follow, making it great for baking beginners or young chefs.

Ingredients

  • 500 g all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet 7g active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 300 ml warm water
  • Optional: 50ml milk for a softer texture

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, mix the flour, yeast, and salt.
  • Gradually add the warm water (and milk, if using) to the dry ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.
  • On a floured surface, knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  • Preheat the oven to 200°C (390°F).
  • Shape the dough into a round loaf and place it on a baking tray.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and hollow-sounding when tapped.
  • Let it cool before slicing.
